Irving Gymnastics Association

IGA STAFF
With over 75 years gymnastics experience between all of our coaches, Irving Gymnastics Association’s staff has a lot to offer! We love what we do, and we love sharing our lives in this special way. Here is a little about our staff so you can get to know us better.
Director
Shelly Patrick developed a love for gymnastics at a very early age. She has been involved with the sport in some way or another for over 20 years. With a love for life and a love for kids, she makes Irving Gymnastics Association a special place for each child. Not only does your child leave each class more confident in her abilities in gymnastics, but Shelly also makes sure each one knows how truly special she is. In her 16 years coaching, she has completed many USGA training courses, including Preschool Fundamentals, as well as her certification as a GAT instructor and a USGA coach. Shelly not only makes gymnastics a learning experience, but also an enjoyable one that makes your child want to keep coming back. Shelly became the Director of IGA in October of 2006 and has worked very hard to make IGA a successful gymnastics program.
Rec Coaches
A recent addition to our staff, Rhandi Hobbs has been coaching since she was in high school. A dancer, cheerleader, and gymnast since she was 9 years old, Rhandi competed for HEB and Texas United for 5 years. As a middle school teacher, Rhandi knows how to encourage students to do their best, praise them for their accomplishments, and discover what techniques work best to teach her students the different skills. She is very excited to coach this fall and looks forward to getting to know each of the families of her students.
Amanda Rosmarin has been a gymnast for 12 years and competed at Level 8. She also was a cheerleader and competed for 3 years, her team winning the TNT national champions title in 2003. Most excited to be teaching and challenging the girls to learn new skills, Amanda has a wonderful ability of incorporating activities that make learning these new skills fun. A previous coach at GTG in Denton, Amanda brings a lot of experience with her to IGA, and she is a wonderful addition to our coaching staff!
Team Coach
Samareh Gharbavi joined the Irving Gymnastics Association team in the fall of 2008, and has been a coach for 6 years. She is an accredited USGA coach, as well as a certified GAT instructor. Samareh moved to the United States from Iran almost 10 years ago, where she competed in gymnastics for 9 years. Her proudest moment was being able to represent Iran in an international gymnastics competition. With all of her experience, Samareh brings a lot to each class she teaches, and her students become well-prepared so they can become a part of the team.
Pre-Team Coach
Cindy Kohus has loved gymnastics since she was five years old. When she entered high school she began competing, and now has been coaching for seven years. With the contagious energy and enthusiasm Cindy has for gymnastics, we at IGA are so lucky to have her as a part of our coaching team. Not only is she able to express to the girls how to improve on certain skills, but many times you will find her out in the gym leading the girls by example.
Boys Gymnastics Coach and Tumbling Coach
Freddy Olivera moved to the United States in 2001 from Argentina, and began competing in gymnastics here in the U.S. once he began high school. Then three years ago he was given the opportunity to begin coaching, and two years ago he joined the coaching staff here at IGA. Whether coaching the boys or spotting girls who are learning how to tumble, Freddy’s love of life shines through to his students.
Boys Pre-School Coach
Corey started gymnastics when he was a freshman in high school, and has loved it ever since! Helping him with leadership skills and self-discipline, Corey saw how much he could help young kids obtain the same skills and discipline by being a coach. Corey loves helping his students become both physically and mentally strong, and wants to prepare them with the skills needed to advance to the next level in gymnastics.
Preschool Coaches
Tamiye Burlingame has been doing gymnastics since she was five. Currently a gymnast at MacArthur High School, she has achieved much while on the team, including starting on the Varsity Gymnastics Team as a freshman as well as competing in state competition as a freshman. She also was named the Varsity All-Around gymnast for MacArthur High School. Tamiye got her start in gymnastics here at IGA and started competing at age 8 and competed for IGA all the way through level 7, and accomplished much in her time here as a gymnast, including the All-Around Gymnast title. It is exciting to have Tamiye on our coaching team, as she shares her knowledge of skills and love of gymnastics with the young ones!
Caylie Scanlan has been a gymnast since she was 2 years old. A student at Coppell High School, Caylie truly enjoys gymnastics, and is excited about coaching the young ones the foundational skills needed to be successful in gymnastics so they can continue growing and moving up to new levels. With a love for kids and love for gymnastics, Caylie has a fun time teaching new skills and helping the students improve their skills in gymnastics!
