October Gym News

Fall has finally arrived! This is my favorite season of the year! The weather cools down, the leaves begin to fall, and Christmas is only 2 months away!  Our fall session is underway and we have been blessed with the addition of new children and families this year. Here is what is going on…

Gold over America Tickets - The GOLD OVER AMERICA TOUR starring SIMONE BILES will be this Saturday, October 9th at 7:30 pm.  This is a celebration of powerful female athletes who, together, are a united force proudly representing the sport of women’s gymnastics and inspiring the next generation of female athletes. Biles and an all-star team of gymnasts featuring Jordan Chiles, MyKayla Skinner, Grace McCallum, Jade Carey, Laurie Hernandez, Katelyn Ohashi, Nia Dennis, Morgan Hurd, Ellie Black, Chellsie Memmel, Shilese Jones and Melanié Johanna de Jesus dos Santos will be coming to celebrate world-class gymnastics in the afterglow of the world’s preeminent international competition. I have 20 tickets available to this event if you are interested. The prices run from $75 - $99 per ticket. This will be the last time for your gymnast to see most of these amazing ladies as they will be retiring from gymnastics after this tour. Once your tickets are paid for I can electronically send you the tickets.

Columbus Day – The gym will be closed for Columbus Day Monday, 11th. We take our team kids and our entire staff to the State Fair every year. You can make the class up on a Friday or another day during the week. Look for an email about make-up class times.

Homeschool Classes – We will begin offering homeschool classes beginning October 13th on Wednesday’s at 3:00pm for any children that are currently homeschooled. We will offer a Preschool/Hotshots Class for children ages 3-5 years as well as a Rec Class for children ages 6-12. You can sign-up through the parent portal for the class.

Super Saturday/Halloween Carnival – Our annual Halloween Carnival will be Saturday, October 23rd from 6:00-10:00pm. We will have a crazy costume contest, bizarre bounce house, freaky foods, neon hide & seek in the dark, creepy crafts and fun carnival games. The cost is $25 for the first child, $20 for the second. All singups are now done online in the camp section of your account on our website. Just log into your account and select “camp” and you can sign your children up through there. The signups will close at midnight on the 22nd  and if your child is not registerd by then the cost will be $30 at the door. You do not have to be a member of the gym to attend this party so bring a friend!!  “Signup online and skip the line”

Parent Coaching – Please leave the coaching to the coaches. It is very confusing for the kids when the coaches are giving directions and then the parents try to coach from the sidelines and tell them something different. It’s very important for the coaches to build that trust with the kids. Just sit back and enjoy the class and leave the coaching to us!

Classes Tardiness – I cannot express to you all enough the importance of getting your child to class on time. In the first 10 minutes of class they do their warm-ups & stretching which is vital to their safety in class. Their muscles must be stretched and warmed up before class or the injury rate doubles. We have a 10 minute window for your child to get into class before we have to reschedule their class. I understand there can be traffic, wet roads, and construction but a little preplanning on your part goes along way. If you know you’re going to be late just call and we can reschedule.

Make-up Classes – If your child has to miss their day of gymnastics they can do a make-up day as long as it is scheduled through your account in our parent portal. DO NOT just bring your kids to another class without scheduling it through the portal first as they will not be allowed to participate. If you schedule a makeup class for your student please make sure you stop by the office and pick up a “Make-up Slip” before class to give to your coach. Your student will not be accepted into class withput one.

Leotards - All girls need to wear a leotard or a biketard which is a leotard with the shorts attached to class. We do not allow sports bras to be worn by themselves. Their hair must be pulled back in a ponytail so that their hair is out of their face. No jewelry is allowed for safety reasons of the gymnast and their coach.

Looking Ahead at November – Our Annual Thanksgiving Feast Super Saturday will be November 20th from 6:00-10:00pm. The gym will be closed Monday, November 22rd – November 27th  for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
