With over 75 years gymnastics experience between all of our coaches, Irving Gymnastics staff has a lot to offer! We love what we do, and we love sharing our lives in this special way. Here is a little about our staff so you can get to know us better.
Shelly Patrick developed a love for gymnastics at the age of five when she first took her first gymnastics class. From that day on she has been involved with the sport in some way or another for well over 35 years. In her 25 years of coaching Shelly holds several professional certifications, including Kinder Accreditation for Teachers (KAT), Pre-School Fundamentals 1 and 2, Fundamentals of Gymnastics, and Hands-On Spotting for School Age. Shelly is a USA Gymnastics Professional member in Men's and Women's artistic disciplines and holds numerous safety certifications including a USA Gymnastics Safety Certification, USA Gymnastics First Aid Basics, Red Cross First Aid and Adult/Child/Infant CPR. She is also a certified Recreational Program Director and Business Executive through USA Gymnastics. Shelly became the Director of IGA in October of 2006 and then the owner in July of 2018 she has worked very hard to make Irving Gymnastics a successful program. In her free time she loves vacationing with her family especially to Disneyworld as she is a huge Disney fan. She is married and has one daughter and a fur baby named Berkley.
Coach Kennedy has been our preschool gymnastics coach since November 2017! Her favorite parts of the program are building relationships with her students and their parents, as well as seeing them get excited about learning a new skill. She is currently enrolled as a Junior in High School, where she also works with children in her Instructional Practice internship. She has a Gymnastics Association of Texas Certification for preschool, and is CPR/AED and First Aid certified! In her free time, she loves spending time with her friends, family, and dogs!
Coach Claudia has been coaching with Irving Gymnastics for little over a year now. She has experience in gymnastics and tumbling. Her favorite part about coaching is seeing her athletes excited about mastering a new skill. She has completed her Levels 1-3 Certification from the Gymnastics Association of Texas and is CPR/First Aid certified. Claudia has always had a passion for teaching, She is currently studying Education at the University of Texas at Arlington to become a teacher. During her time off Claudia loves to sleep and karaoke with her friends.
Aesha competed up to level 3 in gymnastics. After level 3 she switched focus over to cheer. She was a varsity cheerleader 3 years in a row and competed 2 years on a level 5 competition cheer team. She has 14 years experience cheer and dance experience, 6 years coaching experience, and 5 years of gymnatics experince. Aesha is a DCC National Champion. Got a full ride scholarship to West Virgina University, has travled to Austria to cheer at the United World Games, and is a 3 time NCA (Nation Cheer Association) all-star cheerleader. She is certified in CPR, first-aid, and GAT (Gymnastics Association of Texas) levels 1-3. Her favorite part about being a coach is sharing her passion of the sport with the kids and watching them grow to achieve their goals. In her free time Aesha likes to spend time with her family and working out. Bringing the kids to love the sport she loves is her favorite part of working for Irving Gymnastics. Debbie developed a love for gymnastics at a young age. She continued gymnastics all through highschool competiting for Nimitz through level 6. Debbie has 3 years coaching experience and in her free time loves to sing and do Ladies Bible Studies. Debbie loves coaching team because of the competitive aspect as she is always up for a good challenge. She has completed her Gymnastics Association of Texas Certification in Team Levels 1-3 and is CPR/First Aid Certified.
Team Coach Assistant
Mia was a gymnast at IGA for over 5 years as well as participating in High School gymnastics and competing through level 5. Mia is working hard in school to graduate with her license in Cosmetology. Her favorite part about coaching is watching her gymnast grow and improve their skills. She is currently the Level 1 Coaching Assistant
Ballet & Tap Teacher
Anne-Sophie’s love of dance started at a very young age which lead to over 16 yrs of ballet, including pointe. She also danced several years of jazz, modern, improve, and tap while studying dance at Collin College. She graduated with a BAAS from UNT, with specialties in child development, sociology, and psychology. Anne-Sophie is a wife, and a mother of a little gymnast. Her favorite part of working with children is seeing how they learn and gain confidence in their skills with the proper guidance and encouragement. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family and animals.
Team Coordinator/Office Assistant
Terah has 3 years of experience coaching gymnastics. She was not a gymnast, but was an athlete competing in fast pitch softball for 14 years. Her favorite part about coaching gymnastics is watching each athlete develop a love and relationship with a sport that requires a physical and mental capacity like no other sport. She has a passion for focusing on the whole athlete: mind, body, and spirit. Her philosophy is, “You are good at what you love doing.” She would like all of her students to love gymnastics. Outside of Irving Gymnastics, Terah spends time with family. She is married and has two daughters who keep her very busy. She enjoys indoor and outdoor cycling in her free time. Also, she is a Certified Personal Trainer, Youth Exercise Specialist, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist with NASM. She also holds a CPR/AED/First Aid certification with the American Heart Association and is Certified through the Gymnastics Association of Texas in Levels 1-3.
